Faculty and Student Authorships & Publications

CDM faculty member Jeffrey Elo, DDS, MS, FACS in collaboration with DMD 2017 student Ho-Hyun (Brian) Sun recently wrote and published a chapter titled, “Anesthesia and Sedation”in the book A Textbook of Advanced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Volume 3.  In addition to their chapter, Dr. Elo and Brian also co-authored an article in this month’s issue of the California Dental Association Journal.  Dean Friedrichsen expressed that the co-authorship by Dr. Elo, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Brian, founder of the Dental Student Research Group, is a living testament to the collaborative environment of the College.

The September 2016 Issue of the California Dental Association Journal also featured another CDM faculty member, Joel Laudenbach, DMD.  Dr. Laudenbach was a guest editor of the issue and contributed both the Introduction, “Oral and Systemic Diseases You May Encounter Throughout Your Career,” and the article, “Mucocutaneous Diseases: Oral Lichen Planus, Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid and Pemphigus Vulgaris”.

If you get a chance, check out the September 2016 Issue, which can be read on the CDA Website and includes more CDM familiar faces.  The Journal featured DMD 2017 student, Jessica Vergel de Dios, who was the Community/Education Dental Student at the Table Clinic Competition at CDA Presents in Anaheim as well as Hubert Chan, DDS who regularly contributes to the Journal’s Tech Trends section.

Congratulations to all on the excellent accomplishments!

  1. The June 2016 issue of the CDA Journal is worth a pick up for more WesternU representation.
